"...it is by no means enough to have knowledge of the Christian faith, for Christianity consists rather of practice."

~ Philip Jacob Spener, Pia Desideria

"God wants his people to become like Christ, for Christlikeness is the will of God for the people of God."

~ John Stott, The Radical Disciple

"So the telos, the 'goal' of being 'glorified' over the creation, is to be anticipated in the present by replacing the slave-habits of mind, heart, and body with freedom-habits -- habits that both share in God's freedom themselves and bring that freedom to the world. That is, more or less, what Paul understands by holiness or sanctification, the learning in the present of the habits which anticipate the ultimate future. But that sovereign and redemptive rule of renewed humans over God's world is also anticipated in the present time through prayer."

~ N.T. Wright, After You Believe: why Christian Character Matters
"The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. It educates us so that we can live sensible, ethical, and godly lives right now by rejecting ungodly lives and the desires of this world."

~ Titus 2:11-12 (CEB)
"In short, one should pray short, but often and strongly; for God does not ask how much and how long one has prayed, but how good it is and how it comes from the heart."

~ Martin Luther, Commentary on the Sermon on the Mount

Reminders

To remain enrolled in this class you must submit at least one new section assignment (in addition to TRIP journal assignments) every 7 days. To complete the work for this class you must submit an average of two assignments every week. Organize your time accordingly!

BEFORE SUBMITTING ASSIGNMENTS try using a grammar checker to hunt down and kill writing errors. PaperRater.com is FREE and FUN to use!

FYI -- I do most of my grading on Tuesdays (Florida time). DON'T WAIT for me to return an assignment before you begin working on the next one.

    The Jesus Creed

    Jesus answered,
"The most important command is this:

    'Listen, people of Israel!
The Lord our God is the only Lord.
Love the Lord your God with
    all your heart,

    all your soul,
    all your mind,
    and all your strength.'
    The second command is this:
'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'
There are no commands more important than these."

    The Lord's Prayer

    Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your Name.
    Your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
    on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
    Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
    and deliver us from evil.
    For the kingdom,
    the power,
    and the glory
    are yours now and forever.
    Amen
